Terrific News! Here Come the Jobs!

The jobs are coming! The jobs are coming! Despite the doom and gloom everyone is witnessing, some districts are already seeing the light at the end of the tunnel in regards to the IT industry. As Charles Cooper from CNET News notes, the Federal Reserve’s district-by-district review of current economic conditions, parts of the country are reporting improvements in the demand for IT products and services.

Kansas City and Minneapolis, Boston and New England all have reports in the positive column and more specifically, there are more computer systems design and consulting services jobs now than a year ago. Then, with the billions of IT dollars included in the stimulus plan, there may be more to celebrate than what we think.

We recently launched a new website to work as a complete career guide for people like you in the IT field. It includes tons of valuable and useful information, including salary stats, assessment tests, a career growth chart and better yet, employment projections.

Find out what certification training will help you see the light: Microsoft MCTS, MCSA, MCSE and MCITP; Basic Linux, Sun JAVA, (ISC)2 SSCP and CISSP; Cisco CCENT, CCNA and CCNP; CompTIA A+, Network+ and Security+, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator; Checkpoint CCSA, GIAC, Oracle and much more. Or to get some advice on your situation, call 1-877-872-4646 Monday through Friday, 9am-6pm. The jobs are coming. Now all you have to do is be ready to compete for them.

What Is the One Thing That Will Increase Your Salary?

Everyone wants to know “the secret” to getting the money you deserve. As it turns out, “the secret” isn’t a secret at all. According to TechRepublic’s 2009 Salary Report, “job performance” is the single greatest contributing factor to a higher base pay.” Are they simply trying to state the obvious?

So how do you improve your job performance enough to be monetarily recognized? Changes like going to work with a smile on your face or eating a super protein-packed power bar every day won’t exactly be the phenomenon you’re hoping for. According to your fellow colleagues, keeping current with today’s technology by receiving training to upgrade your skill set worked for them this past year, despite the economic downturn. According to the survey, 87% who have taken additional training admit they are more proactive on the job and 64% said that the training they received had a significant impact on their salary.

Certifications also proved to be the secret to boosting job performance. According to the survey, three out of four IT professionals said they were more productive at work after becoming certified and 67% of the hiring managers believe that “certifications impact the salaries of potential employees”.

In what ways do you think certifications can help in your job performance or current job search? CBT XPress specializes in Certification Boot Camps to get you certified FAST. Tech Toys

Not every “tech toy” is a technological blessing. Here are a few tech toys (compliments of Digital Trends) that didn’t quite make it (and you’ll see why):

TV Glasses - These glasses claimed to turn any TV suddenly into a gigantic-screen TV, just by wearing them. Of course, nothing changes the fact that they are only tiny LCD screens practically touching your retina. As cheap as actual big-screen TVs are right now, we don’t have to try and confuse, and maybe damage, our eyes to see a good picture.

Car Stereo Remotes - Thank us all that car stereo remote controls never stuck. I mean, c’mon, we’re lazy, but we’re not THAT lazy. Holding a remote control two inches away from the stereo is just plain embarrassing. You could argue that the remote control is perfect for those “back-seat controllers”, but we all know the rule of “whoever drives, decides” what music to play. Pressing the actual buttons on your stereo instead is much safer than using a remote control, dropping the remote, changing the batteries in the remote, etc.

Apple Hockey Puck Mouse - This mouse didn’t work because it functions like a square wheel. It’s uncomfortable to use, it’s hard to control and it encompasses one of Apple’s biggest mistakes – the one-button click.

Microsoft Office Assistant - Can you think of anything more annoying that a paper clip character popping up in your face and continuously asking you if you need help? How about the magician, the smiley face, the cat, the dog, the robot…need we go on?
